Terms of the Day:

1) Economic Stagnation- Economic stagnation is a prolonged period of slow economic growth (traditionally measured in terms of the GDP growth), usually accompanied by high unemployment.

2) Economic Distress- Economic distress means conditions affecting the fiscal and economic viability of a rural community, including such factors as low per capita income, low per capita taxable values, high unemployment, high under- employment, low weekly earned wages compared to the state average, low housing values compared to the state average, high percentages of the population receiving public assistance, high poverty levels com- pared to the state average, and a lack of year-round stable employment opportunities.

3) Economic Protectionism- Protectionism is the economic policy of restricting imports from other countries through methods such as tariffs on imported goods, import quotas, and a variety of other government regulations

4) Maoists - Maoism is a form of communism developed by Mao Tse Tung. It is a doctrine to capture State power through a combination of armed insurgency, mass mobilization and strategic alliances. The Maoists also use propaganda and disinformation against State institutions as other components of their insurgency doctrine.

5) Moratorium - a temporary stopping of an activity, especially by official agreement

6) Chauvisnistic - Feeling or displaying aggressive or exaggerated patriotism.
