Kartik’s interest in civil services stemmed from a desire to contribute to society and influence change at a larger scale. Even after securing a position in the IPS, he felt that his aspirations were more aligned with the responsibilities of an IAS officer. He believed that civil services, especially the IAS, offered a platform to directly impact public policy and governance, which motivated him to reattempt the UPSC examination.

Kartik’s journey to becoming an IAS officer was filled with determination and perseverance. Despite qualifying for the IPS in 2018 with a commendable rank, he aimed higher and chose to attempt the exam again in pursuit of the IAS. His challenges included managing time efficiently, revising multiple times, and dealing with the immense pressure of preparing for the UPSC while already in training for the IPS. Kartik also emphasized the importance of smart work, where he focused on limited sources and efficient note-making.
