ABOUT MAYUR HAZARIKA :

Mayur Hazarika, who resides in Tezpur in Assam's Sonitpur district, is a qualified doctor.
He secured AIR 5 in CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION 2022 that too in his very first attempt
Before successfully passing the Civil Services exam, Mayur served as a medical officer with the National Health Mission (NHM) in Assam.
He expressed that he drew inspiration from Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar to pursue the Civil Services examination.
Apart from his professional pursuits, Mayur has a fondness for football and enjoys tackling Rubik’s cubes in his leisure hours.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND :

Mayur Hazarika concluded his 12th grade education at Ramanujan Junior College in Nagaon, affiliated with the Assam state board.
He pursued his higher secondary education at Don Bosco School, achieving high ranks in both the HSLC and HS examinations.
In 2020, he successfully obtained his MBBS degree from Guwahati Medical College.
This initial endeavour at the civil service exams proved fruitful for him, and now he aspires to become a part of the Indian Foreign Services.

FAMILY BACKGROUND :

Mayur Hazarika hails from the Tezpur district of Assam.
His father, Mr. Krishna Hazarika, holds the position of an executive engineer in the Public Works Department (P.W.D.).
His mother, Mrs. Moushumi Hazarika, dedicated her time as a homemaker.

WHY CIVIL SERVICES :

After completing his 12th grade, Mayur initially leaned towards Civil Services, but a lack of proper guidance led him to opt for a career in the medical field instead.
However, during his third or fourth year of medical school, he developed a keen interest in the Civil Services examination, particularly in the realm of foreign diplomacy and international relations.
This newfound passion ultimately led him to make the decision to pursue a career in the Indian Foreign Service.

STRUGGLES AND CHALLENGES :

Balancing Work and Studies:

Mayur Hazarika was actively practising medicine while preparing for UPSC Prelims.
The pressure and strain of managing both responsibilities must have been immense.
Nonetheless, with a steadfast focus on his objective, Mayur dedicated 4-5 hours daily to his studies after work.
Through persistent effort, Mayur Hazarika successfully cleared UPSC Prelims with a commendable score, which further motivated him to push harder.

Coping with Stress :

Stress is a common facet of every student's journey, regardless of the stage they are in.
Mayur Hazarika openly acknowledged grappling with exam-related stress.
Nevertheless, he adopted a constructive outlook, concentrating on finding solutions rather than succumbing to overwhelm.
Staying true to his preparation strategy, Mayur Hazarika earned the 5th position in UPSC Mains.

In the initial months of 2021, Mayur initiated his preparations and wrapped them up by year-end. He remarks, "I didn't delve into an exhaustive preparation for the Civil Services exam."Acknowledging his parents' unwavering support, Mayur attributes his remarkable success to them. He draws inspiration from India’s Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar, and aims to pursue a career in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
