About the EPFO Examination

The annual recruitment is for the post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (Group A, Ministerial Post) & Enforcement Officer and Accounts officer which are Group B, Non-Ministerial Posts. These are key functionaries of the EPFO and both are permanent recruitments.

Eligibility:

  • Education: To take this exam, you must have a bachelors university degree.
  • Age: For the Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer positions you should not be more than 30 years of age, while for Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner post you can be upto 35 years of age and a diploma in Company Law/Labour Laws/Public Administration is desirable, though not mandatory. The age limit is relaxable for reserved category candidate i.e. for SC/ ST candidates (upto 5 years) and for OBC candidates (upto 3 years).
  • Citizenship: Citizens of India, Nepal, Chutan, Tibetan Refugees (who came to India before 1 January 1962) and people of Indian origin from certain Asian and African countries who have eligibility certificates from the Government of India are eligible to apply.

Vacancies: There were about 610 vacancies declared last year, however they are subject to change from year to year depending on the requirements of the services.

(75% Weightage)
General Studies has 120 multiple choice questions. Each question has 4 options with one right answer.

There is negative marking of ⅓ marks per answer will be done for every wrong answer.
The paper is divided in following sections:
  • Part A: English Language
  • Part B: General Studies & Aptitude.
Interview
(25% Weightage)
Personal interview with a board of senior officers which lasts about 20-40 minutes to assess general awareness, intelligence, character, communication skills and general suitability for service.
