Why Chosen Civil Services

Ankita always had a desire to contribute to society and make a larger impact, which motivated her to pursue civil services. Struggles and Challenges

Ankita’s UPSC journey was not an easy one. She had already cleared the exam in her second attempt (AIR 270) and joined the Indian Audit and Accounts Service. However, she was determined to improve her rank. Her perseverance paid off in her fourth attempt when she secured the third rank. She also had to balance her studies with personal responsibilities, especially after her marriage, which made her journey more challenging but rewarding.

During her preparation, she faced setbacks, particularly in managing her mental health during the grueling preparation process. Ankita also struggled with time management and overcoming weaknesses in some topics. After contracting COVID-19, she had to shift to online study methods, but her resilience helped her stay focused on her goal.

Preparation Strategy

For Prelims:

Ankita focused on limiting her resources and revising them multiple times. She emphasized solving mock tests and analyzing her mistakes to improve accuracy. Consistency in current affairs and maintaining concise notes were key parts of her strategy.


For Mains:

Ankita concentrated on answer writing and developed her essay and GS papers by writing structured, coherent answers. She worked extensively on her optional subject, Philosophy, by revisiting the topics where she had underperformed in her previous attempts. Joining a test series helped her track progress and work on feedback.


For Interview:

She prepared for the interview by keeping herself updated on current events and honing her communication skills. Mock interviews and group discussions with peers were essential to improving her confidence. She believed in being honest and calm during the personality test.
