Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants is a unique initiative of the G20 group of countries.
The CCAC focuses on methane black carbon and hydrofluorocarbons.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
Correct Answer:
(B)
2 only
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a voluntary partnership of governments, inter-governmental organizations, business, scientific institutions and civil society organizations committed to improving air quality and protecting the climate through actions to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. It is a coalition formed by 53 countries and various institutions. CCAC mainly focuses on methane, black carbon and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Along with spreading awareness about the effects of short-lived climate pollutants, the coalition also works for its mitigation strategy and to promote new operations at the regional and national level. Along with this, the allies of the coalition also recognize the fact that minimization of short-lived climate pollutants is capable of working as supplementary and supplement in global efforts to minimize carbon dioxide.

The first global environment conference was the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, also known as the Stockholm Conference, held in Stockholm, Sweden, from June 5–16, 1972. This landmark event, considered the first global convergence on environmental issues, led to the creation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and World Environment Day. The conference focused on the relationship between environmental conservation and long-term development, and it adopted a declaration outlining 26 environmental and development themes.

Earth Summit 1992 is also known as The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED).
Earth Summit 1992 succeeded in raising public awareness of the need to integrate environment and development.
190 countries pledged their commitment to achieve by 2010, a significant reduction in the current rate of biodiversity loss at global, regional and local levels.
As a follow-up, the World Summit on Sustainable Development (Rio+10) was held in 2002 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In 2012, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development was also held in Rio and is also commonly called Rio+20 or Rio Earth Summit 2012.

Which one of the following gases is NOT a greenhouse gas?
Correct Answer:
(D)
O2
Greenhouse gas in an atmosphere is a gas that absorbs and emits radiation within the thermal infrared range. This process is the fundamental cause of the greenhouse effect. The primary greenhouse gases in earth’s atmosphere are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. Hence, (d) is the correct answer.
Note: The gases directly responsible for greenhouse effect are – Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Nitrous Oxide (N2O), CFC, SF6, NF3, etc. While the gases indirectly responsible for greenhouse effect include - Nitrogen oxide (NOX), Carbon monoxide (CO), Non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) and sulphur dioxide (SO2).
The relative contribution of main Greenhouse Gases are as follows–
Water Vapor about 60%
Carbon Dioxide about 26%
Methane about 4-9%
Ozone about 3-7%
Nitrous Oxide about 1.5%
Chlorofluorocarbons and others about 0.1-0.4%

Which one of the following is NOT a greenhouse gas found naturally in the atmosphere?
Correct Answer:
(A)
Nitrogen oxide
Greenhouse gas has the property of absorbing infrared radiation emitted from Earth's surface and reradiating it back to Earth's surface. Carbon dioxide, Methane, ozone and water vapour are the most important greenhouse gases, found naturally in atmosphere. Nitrogen Oxide is not a Green House Gas found naturally in the atmosphere.
