Paper I: Punjabi
This paper focuses on Essay writing, Comprehension passages, Précis
writing, Translation (English to Punjabi and vice versa) and Punjabi
Grammar.
- Read Punjabi newspapers such as Ajit, Punjabi Tribune, and books to improve your reading speed and
understanding.
- To prepare for Essays, practice writing in Essays on diverse topics like agriculture in Punjab,
Punjabi culture, environmental challenges in Punjab etc.
- To prepare for Precis writing, practice writing concise summaries of long passages.
- Practice translating editorials and articles from English newspapers (like The Hindu or Indian
Express) into Punjabi and vice versa.

Paper II: English
This paper includes sections on comprehension, précis writing, grammar, and essay
writing.
- Practice writing essays on diverse topics related to social issues, current affairs,
economy, environment, or general philosophical ideas.
- Practice reading long passages within a short time to improve comprehension.
- Study English Grammar topics like like tenses, subject-verb agreement, prepositions,
articles, sentence structure, etc. from English Grammar books.

Paper III: Essay
This paper requires candidates to write three essays, each between 1000 and 1200
words.
- Build a strong knowledge base using static sources, Newspapers, government reports etc.
- Practice writing essays on diverse topics related to Political, economical, environmental and social
issues and general philosophical ideas.
- Practice essays asked in Past years papers.
Key elements required to write a good quality essay
- Clarity of topic
- Fresh perspective rather than just common ideas
- Simple language
- Smooth flow of ideas
- Balanced views ( Both positive and negative aspects of a topic should be touched but the overall
approach to the topic should be optimistic)
- Use of Quotes and Anecdotes
Paper IV: General Studies Paper I
This paper covers history, geography, culture, society, and current events, both at the national
and Punjab-specific levels.
History
- In Ancient and Medieval History, civilizations, empires, and their contributions to society,
economy, and culture with special emphasis on local rulers and culture of area around Punjab.

Geography

Paper V: General Studies Paper II
This paper covers topics related to governance, constitution, polity, social justice,

Polity

Constitution (e.g. 73rd and 74th Amendments)
- Study in detail the 3 pillars of Polity - Executive, Legislature and Judiciary.
- Study how federal principles apply to Punjab and how local governance bodies function within the
state.

Governance

Paper VII: General Studies Paper IV

Emotional intelligence, Ethics in Public Adminstration and Probity in governance. Make notes on
definition and examples of every topic.
- Focus on the practical application of ethics in real life and public administration. Pay attention
to how ethical principles guide decision-making in difficult situations.
- Case studies are a critical part of this paper, requiring practical solutions to ethical dilemmas.
Practice solving case studies involving real-life ethical issues in public administration.
