Cheras
The Cheras governed regions of present-day Kerala.
Their capital was Vanji, with significant seaports at Tondi and Musiri.
Positioned to the west and north of the Pandyas, the Chera kingdom thrived through trade with the Romans.
Chera history is marked by frequent conflicts with the Cholas and the Pandyas.
The Pugalur inscription from the first century A.D. references three generations of Chera rulers.
The Padirruppattu also sheds light on the reigns of the Chera kings.
