The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) commonly referred to as “CGPSC Rajyaseva” is conducted to recruit candidates for various administrative positions in the Chhattisgarh Government.
The recruitment process includes 3 stages -

  1. Preliminary examination
  2. Mains examination
  3. Interview/ Personality test

Stage I: Preliminary examination

CGPSC Prelims is a screening test used to shortlist candidates for the Mains. It includes two objective-type papers.

Minimum Qualifying Marks: In each Question Paper essential Qualifying marks for unreserved category will be 33% and 23% for reserved categories and handicapped candidates. Second Question Paper –Eligibility Examination shall be of qualifying nature. Marks obtained in this question paper shall not be added while preparing the merit list for short listing of candidates for Main Examination. Candidates shall be selected for Main Examination on the basis of merit list of First Question Paper- General Studies.

CGPSC Syllabus for Paper I

(1) Current Affairs- events of state, national, and international importance and sports.

(2) History of India- (with special reference to Chhattisgarh state) other topics along with Indian National Movement. History of Chhattisgarh and Contribution of Chhattisgarh to the Freedom Movement- Tribes, Special Traditions, Teej, and Festivals of Chhattisgarh

(3) Geography- Geography of India, Chattisgarh, and the world –aspects such as physical, social, and economic geography, Census, Archeological and Tourist Centres of Chhattisgarh

(4) Polity of Government- Polity and Governance of Chhattisgarh and India – Constitution, Urban Governance, Political System, Public Policy, Rights Issue, etc Administrative Structure, Local Government, and Panchayati-raj of Chhattisgarh.

(5) Social development and Economics- Topics such as Sustainable Development, Inclusion, Poverty, Social Sector Initiatives, Demographics, Forest, and Agriculture , Industry in Chhattisgarh, Energy, Water and Mineral Resources of Chhattisgarh will be covered in the exam.

(6) Environmental science and ecology - General issues on Ecology, Environmental Biodiversity, and Climate Change.

(7) General Science- Topics related to Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

CGPSC Syllabus for Paper-II
  • Comprehension
  • English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level)
  • Knowledge of Hindi Language (Class X level)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision-making and Problem-solving
  • Mental ability- Topics like Analogy- Classification, Series, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, etc.
  • Basic numeracy (Class X level) - Numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc. Data interpretation includes Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc.

Ø Note 1: The Question will be of Multiple choice, Objective Type.

Ø Note 2: It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he / she does not appear in both the papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination.

Stage II (Mains Examination)

CGPSC Rajyaseva Mains Syllabus consists of seven papers: Two language papers (Chosen Language & English); one essay paper, five general studies papers (GS-1, GS-2, GS-3 & GS-4 & GS-5)

Note:-

  1. Candidates should write four essays- Two from each section compulsorily.
  2. Candidates shortlisted for the Main Examination on the basis of Preliminary Examination (Screening Test) must appear for all the seven papers in Main Examination.
  3. Candidates selected for the Interview on the basis of Main Examination must appear in the Interview. Absence in any paper of Main Examination and Interview will be liable for disqualification.
  4. All the question papers except first -"Language" may be answered in Hindi or English chosen by the candidates. However a candidate will not be permitted to write part of the paper in Hindi and part of it in English.
  5. Paper II - Essay : There will be two sections in this paper : (i) International and National level Issues (ii) Chhattisgarh State Issues.The Candidates will be given four options in each section and will have to write on two options from each section, the problem- solution (reason, present status including data and solution).
  6. Paper 03 to 07 will contain the question as given below:-

Section 01- In this section there will be 22 compulsory questions from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Each question will carry 02 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 44. (Word limit for answer of each question - about 30)

Section 02- In this section there will be 13 compulsory questions from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Each question will carry 04 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 52. (Word limit for answer of each question - about 60)


Section 03- In this section there will be 08 compulsory questions from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Each question will carry 08 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 64. (Word limit for answer of each question- about 100)

Section 04- In this section total 02 questions will be given from part-02 of the syllabus of the paper concerned, Out of which 01 question will have to be solved. The question will carry 10 marks, Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 10.( Word limit for answer of each question- about 125).

Section 05- In this section, there will be respectively 02-02 questions from Part-01 & Part 03 of syllabus of concern question paper, Out of which candidates have to attempt respectively 01-01 question partwise. Each question will carry 15 marks. Thus the maximum marks for this section will be 30. (Word limit for answer of the question-about 175)

PART - 01: INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL LEVEL ISSUES
Candidates will have to write two essays on issues (Reason, present status including data and solution) from this part. Four problems will be given in this part; candidates will have to write two essays on this part about 750-150 words. Each issue in this part will carry 50 marks.

PART - 02 : CHHATTISGARH STATE LEVEL ISSUES

  1. Social and Important Legislation - Indian Society, Social legislation as a form of a means of social transformation. Human Rights protection Legislation 1993, Protection granted to Females (CRPC) under Indian Constitution & Criminal Law (Penal Code). Protection Act 2005 to Females from Domestic violation, Civil Rights protection Act 1955, Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes Atrocity Protection Law 1989, Right to Information Act 2005, Environment Protection Act 1986, Consumer Protection Act 1986, Information Technology Act 2000, Corruption Prevention Act 1988.
